The Way to the Difference
Process Paper
I chose my topic because I watched a video describing Tabitha’s Way cause that inspired me to act. I did research on this amazing food pantry and realized I wanted to do something. I set up an appointment for volunteering, and then I wanted to make sure that other people could get the motivation and understand why Tabitha’s Way works, so I made a Powerpoint Presentation to enlighten minds of friends, family, and community builders.
As I worked with Tabitha’s Way, my humility and understanding grew amazingly. Just seeing all the people lined up, waiting for basic survival needs, helped me feel how hard poverty and hunger can be. Seeing all the volunteers also made me understand how special and important it is to help there. I was so grateful for the opportunity, and I was glad I could make a difference, if not only in the people I helped, but in my own life.
I faced the obstacle of recovering from a very bad cold virus while I worked there. My sickness intervened with the volunteering times, but I pushed through it and was able to serve there. Even though it was very difficult, I felt the service was worth it and I was grateful I did it.
My project relates to the theme of making a difference because I made a difference in the people who needed these basic necessities lives. If only in a small way, I was able to help organize and sort and keep going many of the service activities going on here. I also made a difference by enlightening people’s ideals about Tabitha’s Way and trying to make them understand why we should serve people at these food pantries.
